Koller, Jr. This is a resource book for teachers seeking an opportunity to inspire their students in science and technology using a real world aerospace experiment. It is a GUIDE – it is not a literary masterpiece. What it lacks in length and format is redeemed in its clarity of purpose, and it does what it says it will do – it leads you through the basics of space-related work that most will never conquer without help.Using a “cook book” approach, the author carries you through each step he learned through personal experience, from concept to obtaining resources, organizing student teams, engaging parents, conducting actual flight activities, recovering data, identifying results, and reaching conclusions based on real science. What he labels as appendices provide useful checklists and “how to” examples that can be used to avoid the pitfalls inherent in this kind of work. There are classroom and laboratory exercises that engage students, parents, and faculty in designing and conducting flight experiments that work. These are the heart of the book - what would be the recipes in a cookbook for food. They can be copied and re-used, making the book more cost effective through repetitive use.If you are expecting polished prose, descriptive narrative, and extensive lesson plans, this is probably not the book for you. On the other hand, if you want a practical guide that can help you give your students what may be their ONLY chance at applying real science AT THE EDGE OF SPACE – this may be worth your time and effort. It’s a bit pricey for what it provides, but nothing else like it exists today.

Smith, PE This book condenses years of educational experience running STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) programs into an easy how-to guide that can get anyone started in performing top notch research. Greg shows how he has gotten school kids as young as 6th grade, in both public and private schools, running experiments that challenge them while also changing how they thing and feel about science. This book provides a step-by-step guide that goes from funding to vendors to lesson plans. If you are an educator looking for an easy method to do some amazing teaching, or involved with an extracurricular group looking for an exciting project, I highly recommend this guide to getting you started.
