By Bassocantor GREAT MUSIC GAMES FOR KIDS is a delightful read, with 20 different ideas of clever musical exercises for kids. The author has clearly spent a lot of time preparing these fun exercises. The 20 games get the kids actively involved--sometimes jumping, sometimes quacking or shouting, etc. That is, you're making it a lot of fun to participate in singing. For example, the "Chinese Clapping" game has the kids clapping a certain rhythm, which is passed from student to student.Each game is preceded by preparation notes, such as "Materials Required," or "Musical Skills Targeted." For the most part, the games require very little preparation. With just a short time preparing, the instructor will get a big payoff. I have no doubt that most participants will really love these games.My favorite game is the "Fairground Ride," which has the kids chanting fun phrases such as "French Fries, French Fries" as they "ride" the rollercoaster. The students will especially enjoy one part of the ride in which they all get to simulate vomiting, after a particularly harrowing drop on the coaster.Another fun game is the "Scat That" game, in which the students use their voice to simulate various instruments.√ All in all, GREAT MUSIC GAMES FOR KIDS is an excellent book, with tons of creative ideas.
