About the Author Fee O'Shea is a New Zealander who is a lover of great vegan food. After adopting a vegetarian lifestyle in the 90's she experimented with many different ingredients in order to create more appetizing and appealing food as New Zealand, at that time, was no where near embracing vegetarianism. Early into the second decade of the 21st century, Fee had begun to learn about the welfare of farmed animals both overseas, but more importantly within New Zealand. It was this knowledge of the farming industry that led her to adopt a vegan lifestyle. She is actively involved with SAFE, a New Zealand organization which campaigns to stop factory farming along with other animal welfare issues, and she does what she can to help educate others to the benefits of adopting animal free living even if it is only for one day a week. She has an active blog where she takes great delight in venting her frustrations with animal welfare, lack of vegan choices, environment, short-sighted politicians and other things. Fee has three children, two of whom are vegan, and two grandchildren. All her children have followed in her footsteps by being adventurous and creative great cooks and extremely conscious of animal welfare and planet earth.

A better place for all sentient beings By Stephanie Atwood I read this book from cover to cover because it is a subject I am very interested in AND have given a lot of thought to. Fee O'Shea was thorough and, at the same time, fun to read. I loved the recipes. I loved the research. I do not agree with all of her conclusions or all of her convictions. At the same time I am very impressed with how complete and convincing she is with her writing. I LOVED the recipes and truly appreciate what she addressed as vegan issues. I look forward to more recipes, especially and want you to know how much I appreciate your efforts to make this planet a better place for all sentient beings!

I read this book mostly out of curiosity to see Fee would approach this subject. Of course she has written in her same warm and understanding style and her passion is evident from the first paragraph. What I love about Fee's writing is that fact that she never takes a 'Holier than Thou' approach, she doesn't 'tell you' to become Vegan, she wants to help you on the journey to becoming Vegan. As she says, being Vegan is not a diet, it is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. She accepts that it can be difficult (after all, she has been in the readers shoes too!) and she shares her wealth of knowledge once more to help the reader through their personal '...yeah, but...' moments.Fee presents some very confronting information which is well researched and presented in the matter-of-fact style that I enjoy about Fee's writing. As always Free presents an extremely strong 'why' case but what I love the most is that she presents the most important 'HOW' information and some FANTASTIC recipes!* If you are vegetarian looking towards becoming Vegan...GET THIS BOOK...it has all the pointers you will ever possible need* If you are vegetarian who hasn't thought about becoming Vegan...GET THIS BOOK...I promise it will get you thinking* If you are not yet Vegetarian, or still eat meat...GET THIS BOOK...Although Fee doesn't recommend it, I say get this book and have a little read....it cant hurt can it, and you will never read a work by a more understanding or knowledgeable author.Once again...THANKS FEE....another get addition to your WONDERFUL 'The Good Life Series'. Can't wait for the next!

By Anna I really liked this book because it was easy to read, you can tell that the author loves animals very much and cares a lot about them. This book is very informative. Fee O’Shea has done an excellent job on telling the truth about how animals used for food and clothing are being treated. There was a lot that I didn’t know although I know a lot about this subject and it makes me sad to learn about all the horrible things that people do to animals. However, this book didn’t only make me sad, it made me happy too when I read the recipes. I can’t wait to make one of the wonderful dishes!
