About the Author Dennis Sale is presently Senior Education Advisor at Singapore Polytechnic. He has previously worked across all sectors of the British educational system. He has invented highly effective and practical models for promoting good thinking in the curriculum, creative teaching and blended learning, which have been implemented in many educational institutions in several countries. Dennis is the author of ‘The Challenge of Reframing Engineering Education, the first book to fully document the implementation of the Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate (CDIO) Engineering Education Framework in an Asian context.

I enjoyed his clear (or should I say crisp) writing style, no-nonsense approach yet blended with a good dose of his East London humour. His book brings together different aspects of teaching that I wish I had access to when first converting from an engineer to an academic. The core principles of learning, along with ample real-world examples drawn form his vast teaching and consulting experience, bring together key concepts in cognitive science, pedagogy and evidence-based teaching that are easily understood by the layman. The coverage on creative teaching is also very refreshing and provide assurance that teaching, can indeed, be a creative endeavour without having to resort to gimmicky classroom antics. This book will be most useful for any lecturer who wants to improve his/her teaching, whether one is new to the profession or otherwise.

Excellent book for anyone looking at creating effective teaching and learning experiences By Amazon Customer I was able to obtain very helpful information and practical takeaways after reading this book. In my role as an educational technologist, much of my work revolves around providing faculty support in using technology to enhance teaching and learner attainment. The chapter on "The Heuristics of Effective Teaching" and the core principles of learning articulated in this chapter is especially helpful for me in this aspect, providing me with a good pedagogical frame as I conduct my edutech consultancy work and craft out technology-enabled solutions for faculty. The chapter on blended learning also provided good insights on how technology can be used to strategically and creatively enhance aspects of the learning process. This book is written in an informal style packed with plenty of examples and a good dose of humour that makes it an easy and rewarding read!

A must read for all professional educators By wan chi ming I am a polytechnic lecturer teaching electronic engineering in Singapore for 27 years, I enjoyed reading this book, this book pulls together the key research on human learning and how creativity in teaching actually works in practice. A must read for anyone interested in why some teaching professionals (teachers/lecturers) get much better results in terms of learning outcomes and their relationships with students. Written in an informal style with stories and humour that makes cognitive science really come alive.

Romances based during this time frame always seem to be better to me because of the reality of it all. The war really happened. Men really left. Some returned, some did not.This book follows Annie and Beau. A couple swept up by the war. He leaves and of course while he is gone, she moves on and becomes a successful business woman. When he returns the marriage is not the same. They work hard to make it work.This book was written very well. It kept me reading and I finished it in one sitting because I literally could not put it down. This was a great book, start to finish.I saw the beginning for the next book and can see that this has the making of a great family saga. I love books like this that have a solid beginning and that continue with other books for the other characters. I definitely look forward to reading more about the Brantley family....Stormi

This is a beautiful love story though with some surprises but such is life. A suspenseful war story involving the pilot and best friend, co pilot, sent chills down my arms and I felt sadness for all the soldiers having to go through war for our freedom experiencing loss of friends, etc. I wanted to continue reading because I HAD to know how each event ended. I've shared my book with friends and bought another one for a gift for a friend and they all tell me the same thing. They love the book and looking forward to the sequel BRANTLEY LEGACY which we will all be looking forward to. The author writes the story beautifully.

This is such a delicate shred that you can just about read these stories as historical fiction, period. The existence of magic, ghosts, and mermaids is . . . a bit ambiguous. This serves the themes and the tone, which ranges from elegiac to resentful, but always veers back to handling the unknown. How do you approach the unexplainable? Belief must be slow, gradual to the point of sluggish, but, here, it is an inevitability. Believe or go mad, even if belief looks like madness and vice versa.J. K. Cooke's stories are written in a descriptive narrative style that is nearly epistolary, and the style is both soothing and a little spooky. I'd like to see more!

By DRRD First, I'm a fan of the Iron Druid Series by Kevin Hearne, I've never read any of the works in the other two series by Delilah S. Dawson and Chuck Wendig. I think that probably makes a huge difference in how they came across to me. Some stories just aren't good to jump into when you're doing it blind."A Prelude to War" (Iron Druid Universe) by Hearne - Loved it. It looks back some into the past and some into the future of the coming war. I loved the character development on Granuaile's part and the step forward in Atticus' attempt to head off disaster. I just hope that people don't miss out on this story and start the next book without reading it, because I think it's too important to be missed in the story arc."Not my Circus, Not My Monkeys" (Blud Universe) by Delilah S. Dawson - It was okay, but I have to say I felt a bit lost in this universe and it wasn't quite working for me. So many animals/men are of the Blud (or vampire) types that it's a wonder that anyone with human blood has survived. (Bludmen, Blud horses, Blud rabbits... the mention of Blud Bunnies gave me a weird flashback to Monty Python "Holy Grail" and the attack rabbits. It was a weird moment and didn't do the story any favors.) I'm not sure why the main character, Criminy Stain, seemed to be taking orders and living in a world of humans when he's clearly more powerful than they are. How can Bludmen be very rare if there are Blud animals all over the landscape? How rare is the Magic he can do? Maybe if I'd have read some of the series it would make more sense. But Stain wasn't someone I cared about much, so I don't think I'll get to ever reading that series. He was interesting, but not a lot there to draw me in."Interlude: Swallow" (Miriam Black Universe) by Chuck Wendig - I spent a lot of time lost in this one when it started. I'm pretty sure that fans of the series will be interested in it, but coming in blind it took some work to figure out what exactly was going on as it unfolded. The flow back and forth through time didn't help me much, but I think I got it all by the end. But Miriam is just too dark and too foul mouthed for me. In some characters, constant bad language in their speech and their thoughts may denote strength, and a bit of tempting fate to call them on their rudeness. If done at other times it can be funny and help throw in some lighter moments when things are dark. But it quickly became too much for me, as it made Miriam seem more angry, rude, and broken than strong. I felt sorry for her, and what ever she lived through to get to this point, but I didn't like her or care to read more about her.So the three stars are for the Iron Druid, which I enjoyed. And Thanks, but no thanks, on the other two universes for me. Not from these samples.

I've been reading works by Chuck Wendig, Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne for years and have enjoyed their works greatly.The prospect of a collection of 3 short stories / novellas featuring some of my favorite characters in spec fiction was too much to resist.Miriam Black, the Iron Druid and Criminy Stain in a single collection? Yes, please.I devoured the collection in a single sitting and would do so again.Each story is consistently excellent and highly enjoyable. And the common symbolism between the stories was hilariously awesome - tyromancy: the use of cheese to foretell the future. I mean, come on! Who could resist that common thread.Absolutely a great read and HIGHLY recommended to any fan of the above three authors.I would have loved to be a fly on the wall, listening in on the early discussions of how these three great authors came up with the idea and expanded upon it.

He points out that institutional levels are responsible for specific aspects of university life; accordingly, faculty, staff, students, and administrators remain unaware of one another’s struggles. And he argues that a prevailing culture of consumerism and consumption is largely responsible for condoning, even promoting, unethical behaviors. Keenan concludes with a call for collaboration among all involved with higher education to actively advance ethical behavior in their institutions. Providing just enough historical context, Keenan uses a narrative reporting style, interweaving research and relevant literature, scholarship, and media reports to develop his story and support his assertions. By Catherine This book should be required reading for everyone who works or studies at a university. Keenan argues that because they purport to teach ethics, universities are (often falsely) assumed to be ethical themselves. What results are the crises we are so used to reading about in the news-- campus sexual assault, racist fraternity parties, athletic scandals, and poorly-treated adjunct faculty, to name just a few. Though others have written on related topics, this is the most comprehensive and thoughtful treatment of university ethics as a whole to date.

Important, engaging book about a change long overdue By Lucas Allen With ubiquitous news reports of the “bad apples” in higher education, University Ethics elucidates the radioactive basket that ties the myriad infractions together: the absence of a culture of ethics across the entire university. Despite all the stories of college athletics agents, cheating on tests, hazing, and other scandals too numerous to count, this is the first book to examine the whole of university life and spotlight the lack of an ethical foundation. This absence is felt not only in the classroom, but also runs the gambit from “undergraduates behaving badly” to million-dollar presidents. The book details the historical trajectory of the university to contextualize the current situation, and discusses emerging ethical issues such as the commodification of higher education. Keenan writes of “the university’s prescription that we write with a detached, inaccessible, frigid, dense style” and thankfully rebels against this custom with an engaging and entertaining style. I really hope it is read widely by university faculty, administrators, and students to build momentum for a cultural shift that is long overdue.

A Disturbing and Necessary Read By Anonymous In University Ethics, James Keenan examines the disturbing question of university ethics, or rather the lack thereof. Keenan addresses a multitude of topics, including race, gender, faculty, and discrimination, forcing the reader to acknowledge often uncomfortable truths about the current state of higher education in the United States. His approach is so successful because he employs numerous accessible examples (such as athletic, cheating, and fraternity scandals common in the news) to illustrate a much more systemic problem. Yet, Keenan does not merely preach. He also provides suggestions and recommendations to help remedy these issues. University Ethics is truly an engaging, albeit unsettling, read.

By Jon Wenzel Dugan does a great job of peeling away the 'warm fuzzies' that so many people think come when you follow Jesus. Many people have powerful God encounters when they're young then walk away from their faith years later when the mountain top feelings have dispersed. Dugan does a great job addressing this issue as well as offering options to counter those feelings of God-abandonment using examples from his own life.This is a must read for youth leaders.I read this on the toilet.

It's a great book and I learned a lot from it. I found myself reading it in less than a day. I'm looking forward to applying what I learned from this book to my life, especially taking time out of my day to listen to God.

I find that the storyline made me ponder my own methods of dealing with difficult situations and how I might hold onto it more than I should. Or anyway, it makes me at least look at how my grief might be changing my life for the better or worse, depending on which way you view it. I also think the author wanted to make a statement about the consequences of war and what it does for the people left behind.What I love most about this book is that it makes you think while you read it but also after you finish it. I love books like that. It would be an excellent read for a book club. There are so many different personalities and characters to explore, my favorite being Ruth just because she was so different and honest about her arrogance -- and she was so non apologetic about who she was. Loved her. I also loved the meaning behind the Spring water that was deemed somewhat magical to the townspeople. I have a lot of questions about it (did it really have powers or were the people of the town just convinced that it did?) I don't want to give anything away, but I will say that the story leaves you open to drawing different conclusions.Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for interesting characters, storyline and plot. Great read!

The women live in a small town called Hope Springs in New Mexico. There’s a mystery about the water that bubbles from a spring behind the general store, the town having been named Hope Springs for the miraculous water. But when news comes that one soldier after another has been killed, the hope dies.The characters are well rounded and make you either love them, or hate them.The story is one that drew me in. I had hope. I cried. I felt the pain the women suffered. I won’t tell you the end, but I will say that Tamara Eaton did herself proud with this one.Below you’ll find more info on the book and author. I would recommend that those who love stories about the home front during WWII, as well as those who enjoy history in general, and most especially, lovers of good literary fiction. This is a keeper.

The town they live in is special, a spring that when you drink of it, it restoring effects. But what happens changes all and it begins to lose its magical powers. The lose these women go through is devastating. War time is such a rough time for a mother, wife, fiance, girlfriend and a widow. Can these women over come?Such a sad and emotional book. The loss these women suffer and what they go through is heartbreaking. I enjoyed reading the book. It was a little slow going but very goor all the up to the end. The book is very well written and I liked how the author wrote with such feeling, almost as if you were her.Four fangs from me!Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock

From the Author After finishing my first book, The Unplanned Homeschooler: My Disorganized Path to Homeschooling Success, I knew the next thing I wanted to do was create a homeschool planner for people like me. I hated homeschool planners. They made me anxious. I felt pressured to fill in all the blanks, and when I failed to keep up with them, I felt like I had failed. I have paid 30$ more for a similar product that essentially had about 35 pages of waste and was too bulky to bring around with me to jot things down as they happened, causing me to sometimes forget some critical learning. It includes ideas of ways to include daily unformal learning, i.e. math at the grocery store, or that history discussion on the long car ride. Gives the homeschoolers the flexibility of year round learning or accelerated learning. Awesome product wish I found it sooner!

Its no frills, nothing fancy. Just what you need and to the point. If you're looking for a cute decked out planner with tons of writing space, this is not it.It has a section for attendance, which I love and definitely need. The planner itself is the perfect size, not too big or too small. It contains a full year calendar as well as a section for planning each day which is also a 12 months in format. The only downside is if you like to be detailed (and I do) there might not be enough space for you to plan or outline what you've done each day. The sections for weekdays are small and the section for Saturday and Sunday are tiny.This will work for some, if you're wanting something a little more organized or need more room to plan in detail, I'd choose a different planner.

The Author covers Algrebraic Expressions, Algebraic Factoring, Linear Equations, Unsolvable Equations, Multiple Equations, Quadratic Equations, Inequalities and Functions. The sections on Functions and Factoring are EXCELLENT. The only thing I can find fault with is that there are a few errors which are corrected with a Sharpie Marker.....

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not Relevant for revised test By Jodes Not Relevant for revised test do not bother with it the revised GRE only tests geometry. You do need to know how to work with numbers but make sure you know ALL of your geometry formulas.
