By Poppy Calvert As a PA, trying to describe to a non-PA what you on a daily basis is impossible. Every hour is different, and every day a surprise, and by the time each evening comes the morning's tasks are a distant memory. By some feat of magic, Angela manages to break down the role of the PA into bite-sized digestible chunks. Not only is this book a comprehensive how-to for PAs, it is a reminder of how important the role of the PA is in the workplace. Truly motivational and inspiring, this is a must read for any PA!

The theatre -- Manahactanienk (island of many hills) The story begins in 1674 as an approaching storm rapidly builds to hurricane force coursing havoc for the passengers and crew aboard ‘da Urchin’. Before the Dutch Fluyt could make the Strand to dock we’re thrust forward into contemporary New York where Gus Savvas third generation excavator and the story’s protagonist is overseeing the burial of his father Nick. “FUNERALS SUCK” is the consensus taken by two: Gus’ chum and NYU archeology professor Chase Warren and the books narrator Peter Stuyvesant. Within days Gus and Chase are rummaging through the family’s attic only to find a crude drawing where the letters R C H are rendered into what seems to be a plank of wood. Several days later Chase pays a visit to the City Archives and meets up with Beth the department’s Assistant Manager. Together they stumble upon similar initials identifying a ship, ‘Da Urchin’ as one dating back to the mid-17th century and Peter Stuyvesant’s arrival in New Amsterdam. Later that day the ships manifest is found revealing the presence of gold bullion and minted coins as part of its cargo. The gold and coins were requisitioned by Stuyvesant to replenish the treasury so that improvements could be made to restore the colony and eliminate the horrid, squalid conditions he had inherited. Unbeknownst to either Beth or Chase, only the passengers made it ashore due to a mysterious explosion that sank the Urchin. Once that information surfaces a hunt is planned. By Shareca Coleman Something that I really enjoy is a confidence builder books/people/pictures/etc. I think confidence is something spectacular to have and not everyone has it or knows how to achieve it. Before I even started reading it, I knew I was going to enjoy it based on that first thought. I can learn more about it, as well as connect what I already know or already pertain and add more features to it. That was very great about this experience.The game plan was an aspect I liked about it, that fact that it is a journey to self-confidence because it so rightfully is. It mentions goals and how to not over-achieve the goals you make, you know, start small and then work your way up. Know how to limit yourself and know what you can achieve. Keep positive and have that mindset, because, without it, it might be very hard to be able to fulfill this journey. I loved how the chapters moved gradually, I didn't get the vibe that someone who was writing this didn't have self-confidence or didn't believe what they were writing. I believe it and it was very inspirational. It's going to be tough and what isn't? I just really enjoyed learning something new about confidence and learning how to become more confident. Learning things I didn't actually know and adding those to the things I did.

Not only does this quick read give you proven steps to building confidence, but it will help you achieve positive thinking and an overall positive mental attitude every day. This is a great book to start improving your self-image.Oberman begins the book with a simple definition of what exactly self-confidence is, so you will have a better understanding of how you can achieve it through self-efficacy and self-esteem. He then explains that becoming more self confident is a journey, so you not only need to prepare yourself, but you need to have a clear path and the ability to take the first step toward your goal. Most importantly, this book outlines the best way to seem confident, even when you don’t feel confident. Lets face it, whether you have tons of self-confidence or not, not everyone feels confident all the time.I would certainly recommend this book for anyone who is trying to better improve themselves.

Very helpful By Pearl Angeli I find this book very helpful, most especially to people like me who doesn’t have the guts and confidence most of the time. Upon reading the content of this book, I realized that being less confident is not a bad thing, unless you intend to stay that way forever.The book basically teaches some tips on how to get out of your comfort zone and be the self-assured person you want yourself to be. I realized that setting out goals is indeed very important as well as focusing on your achievements. Although some of the tips are really difficult and almost impossible to do, the book made some really remarkable points and I think that’s the important thing.

By Mike Rodgers This is the second book of Whitmore's planned trilogy chronicling the Armstrongs, an Ohio family tied inexorably to significant events in American history. A Bit of Colored Ribbon begins shortly before and unfolds during the Civil War. Marcus Armstrong is deeply involved in the Underground Railroad, a network of abolitionists who secretly move runaway slaves from Southern plantations to freedom in Canada. The abolitionists run afoul of slave catchers who use the legality of the Fugitive Slave Act to capture the runaways and take them back to servitude or death at the hands of their owners.Marcus Armstrong believes in what he's doing, but wants to do more to help the cause when war finally comes. He meets a runaway slave named Nat, who is seeking his freedom, but also wants to find another runaway, a former slave named Emma, with whom he is in love. The novel plays out over the course of the war through the movements of the 65th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The lives of Marcus and Nat are intertwined throughout the conflict.Whitmore has done an admirable, thorough job of research, carefully laying out the details of the grubby, desperate daily existence of soldiers onboth sides of the war. He also does not shy away from the prejudices and hatred facing the slaves in the South as well as in the North. Readers will care about the fates of the characters who move through this story. This is a very good book, particularly the sections that look at the operations of the Underground Railroad and the courage displayed by those who risked their lives for the freedom of others. This is an excellent sequel to his first novel, The Last Roar, which began the story of the Armstrong family during the tumultuous times of the War of 1812.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Worth the read By Kristie I found this novel quite interesting. This is a stand alone read. But having said that, I did read The Last Roar. I enjoyed this title more because it was character driven. Plus, I prefer reading about the Civil War more. I am from Ohio so I recognized many of the places mentioned. The characters were well developed and based on real life people and events from the past. It took me a bit to get the rhythm of the dialect in the opening of the novel. The dialect does play a role in the story line. I am looking forward to reading the 3rd installment to see where the story goes.

Headquarters, Department of the Gulf, New Orleans, May 15, 1862: As the officers and soldiers of the United States have been subject to repeated insults from the women (calling themselves ladies) of New Orleans, in return for the most scrupulous non-interference and courtesy on our part, it is ordered that hereafter when any female shall, by word, gesture, or movement, insult or show contempt for any officer or soldier of the United States, she shall be regarded and held liable to be treated as a woman of the town plying her avocation. Harding I have just finished reading EZ GMAT-Math Strategies and I find it excellent for the techniques that it suggests to solve GMAT Math, and the explanations are extensive and clear. In fact, the book is repetitive in many ways; while I would usually find that annoying, here I believe it is a strength because the concepts being taught need to be reinforced. The presentation is very logical and I found none of the techniques provided to be difficult to implement.I consider myself to be fairly strong at algebra and geometry, so I was happy to see that the author has provided two methods to solve the vast majority of problems given: the "EZ" alternate strategy (which will be the technique suggested in the chapter), and the "EZ" direct method (usually involving algebra or in some cases mathematical intuition). Sometimes I found myself bypassing the highlighted strategy because I could solve the problem quicker or more comfortably with algebra; other times the strategy proved essential. The emphasis is on finding the best method FOR YOU (efficiency and accuracy!).I agree with other reviewers: the final part of the book (Data Sufficiency), is brilliantly done. For this section alone the book is worth its purchase price. Finally, a book that explains whether or not you should simplify the question stem if possible (yes), flowcharts to reason through these types of questions, and how to deal with all sorts of DS formats (yes/no, value, conditional questions, etc.). When you finish this section, you will understand how to do the problems. I have come to agree with the author: in many cases DS questions are easier than regular problem solving!This book is NOT intended for extensive problem-solving practice. The problems are simple, but well-chosen, because they reinforce points of emphasis. They are clearly not representative of what will be on the GMAT.There are some typos in this book and every now and again you will run into a question that is poorly written and confusing to answer. However, this book is not intended for extensive problem-solving, and the errors in text never detracted from the points the author was trying to convey.Definitely Recommended.

By Cmahdi Imagine this that you are 38 years old and have forgotten half what you learned during 10th grade and you are sitting in class room of adult individuals in a GMAT prep class some of whom remember less than you. your emabarkment towards your professional career may only be temporarily stifled if you are weak and if use this book you will improve. This book simplifies the GMAT Quant portion, I wish that it was paired with a Verbal portion is the only draw back here!!! Study the Quant portion 8-10 hrs per week and watch your score improve!!!!

After studying this book you can easily pick at least a few extra points, which can mean a world of difference by improving your chances of being accepted to a good business school. It has some unique problem solving strategies with different ways to solve the same problem using alternate approaches. Also, the Data Sufficiency section is explained in a very easy to understand manner like no other book. Use this book with the official math guide. Overall, a great book to improve your GMAT scores.
