By Trixi Henrietta heads to Angel Vale, Wyoming where she’ll meet up with Benjamin Capel to become his mail-order bride. While they won’t get married right away, she’s excited to be working as a cook in the eatery & has a dream of owning a restaurant someday. She doesn’t care about money as long as her husband-to-be is kind to her. Upon their first meeting, she falls for him….literally!I really enjoyed this book, as mail-order bride romances are my favorite! This one exceeded my expectations of a short novella, it was full of detail, humor, friendships and making a living in a small mining town. Benjamin has many secrets that he wishes not to reveal to Henrietta too soon, in hopes of surprising her on their wedding day. Unfortunately, it almost backfires on him and causes all sorts of trouble! Will Henrietta be able to look past his deception to love the heart within? This was a sweet romance with glimpses of Christianity within the pages. They are both characters of faith and you’ll read of one surprising conversion. That made my heart happy and put a smile on my face! Yet when she falls for her intended there are many mysteries she must solve before she feels she can truly trust him.Benjamin can't believe he has sent off for a mail order bride. Will she love him for him or will she find out all his secrets and only love him for what he can offer? When she continues to fall at his feet and ask so many questions he is not sure what to think of her.Henrietta and Benjamin have a great since of humor and a great forgiving spirit.If you are looking for a great, quick, mail order bride, Christian romance this one is for you. This book explains why that is, especially in the last tip which deals a lot with losing motivation and recapturing it.I didn't think any book could help me regain my motivation, but this guide has an easy strategy. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. An absolute triumph By Welsh Annie Those of you who know me - just read that description. You know I'm going to love it, don't I? You bet I am! Modern and historical thread, Renaissance Naples, two love stories...Cathie, you could have written it just for me. But what I really wasn't expecting - and given that Cathie Hartigan is part of the CreativeWritingMatters team that might have been rather daft of me - was that it would be so exceptionally well written. The whole book achieves that difficult balance - across both threads - of being an engaging read, shocking, funny and very emotionally affecting, and such a fantastic story. I just loved it.When I said "a fantastic story", there are - of course - two. In the modern thread, Lisa really was my new best friend from the first few pages. With all her faults, I loved her - a quite wonderful character constantly acting on impulses, taking irrational stances, opening her mouth without thinking about the consequences. The whole story around the uncovering of the Gesualdo manuscript, the preparations of the group to perform it, the difficulties they encounter, and the lovely relationship between Lisa and Jon absolutely entranced me. I loved the introduction of the Italian siren from La Scala and the ripples she causes. And I really don't like children much (did I just say that out loud?) but Lisa's daughter Mollie could come and live with me any time - a very real child amid a lot of other quite perfectly drawn characters (wait till you meet Lisa's mother...) who leap, fully formed, from every page. There's even a lovely touch of the supernatural involving the manuscript that's quite perfectly judged, and perversely gives rise to some of the funniest - and most touching - scenes in the book.And that's just one of the threads. The other takes us to Renaissance Italy to meet Silvia, who becomes seamstress (and so much more) to Donna Maria, the wife of the composer Don Gesualdo. Dare I say she's my second best friend? This is really quite a dark story of murder and mayhem and dark doings, but Silvia herself so often has you smiling through it.The author's research shines brightly throughout. You can feel the depth of it, but the book wears it lightly - never too much detail, just enough to bring the period vividly to life. Reading a dual time story, I find I often feel the wrench between the two threads. This book is so cleverly written, beautifully structured so that you slip quite painlessly from modern to Renaissance, with neither story stronger than the other. It's not very often that happens - but in this book it's quite perfectly done. And Cathie's writing style is eminently readable - I really don't know how she does it, but Silvia's voice also feels historically authentic, and quite different from the voice of Lisa.And did I mention how much I enjoyed the book, and what fun it was? Expect great things from Cathie Hartigan - this lovely book may have slipped out without the loud fanfare it deserves, but I do hope others will try it. It's an absolute triumph, in much the same way as you hope will be both the Gesualdo recital and Lisa and Silvia's futures: but to find out whether they are, you're going to have to read the book. On Amazon in the UK it has so many five star reviews. You'll so love it... I promise.

I was gripped throughout the story with its twists and turns, and became immersed in the two different worlds. This is a book that is not only a page-turner but lingers in the memory. Terrific!

Private detective Baines McFadden wakes to find himself in a world where the Axis Powers won the Second World War and Great Britain is a Nazi vassal state. Worse still: in this grave new world, he is a film director fallen foul of the Nazi government by making an obscene pornographic film depicting Adolf Hitler’s wife as a depraved nymphomaniac. His lot improves when the Nazis release him from the Tower of London so he can direct a film about the assassination of Adolf Hitler in 1963 in Dealey Plaza, Texas. Back in favour with the Nazis, Baines seems to be sitting pretty, until the resistance forcibly recruit him and send him on a suicide mission with one objective: Kill the Fuhrer!

A Very Pleasant Surprise By Monique Lomino This book is a fabulous page turner,the plot is so out of this world intriguing that I could not put it down.A private investigator (Baines McFadden) is forced to go into a drug induced coma to achieve access into an alternate reality (where Hitler won the war and most of the world is ruled by the Nazi regime) to rescue the daughter of the doctor he is being held prisoner by.But that's not all,once there he finds that there are an infinite amount of alternate realities and finding the correct girl is indeed more of a challenge than he expected.Boy oh boy did this story blow my mind,to be honest,going by the title I did not expect it to be as splendid as it turned out to be,so I was over the moon excited when the story unfolded into this exceptional piece of literature.Well done Patrick Whittaker,well done.

By Nosliw As a middle school administrator I am always looking for material written by middle school peers that talk to issues that affect school children. Chloe Margarones has written a fantastic tale covering an issue all schools face. Inclusion is difficult to make seemless as there are sometimes differences that are hard to understand in students who, at their age, are more self aware. Chloe has a vision of global awareness and has eloquently written a tale that expresses what, we as adults who teach tolerance to differences, have trouble getting across to her peers. Two thumbs up.

It's simple enough for children to understand, and open and broad enough for it not to pertain to just autism. So many autism books I've seen talk about they "don't want to be touched", "they say the same words over and over", "they flap their hands". My daughter has autism and none of those things are true for her. So since this doesn't go into the stereotypical symptoms, it really can apply to a much larger group of kids. I read it to my daughter's class to start a discussion and it work out so well!
