5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Don't waste the money By Ninjobbit Anyone with internet access could write this. There were lots of typos, few details, no references. I was hoping for a more detailed, and longer, book. If you want to k n ow about Ragnar--there were about 5 paragraphs on him and his deeds. But don't worry! The book does say Vikings did not wear horned helmets. Thank goodness they clarified!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. an encyclopedia of Viking facts By VT Canadian This is more of an encyclopedia of known facts about Vikings than a proper history. There is not much narrative, and what there is needs editing. Here's an example: "There were actually over two million Arabian coins recovered in Viking burials ubiquitously in Scandinavia." At the end of the book the author says he reads the reviews so as to improve his next book. As an author, I will share from my experience: before I hired a professional editor, I thought I wrote well. Then Minda destroyed what I had written. We repeated this exercise with my next few chapters, and each time I learned more about writing. You should consider finding someone to help you with your next work. And if you haven't read Zinsser "On Writing Well", you might want to do so.
