Jean Colaio graduated with a BA in psychology from SUNY Albany. She worked on Wall Street for a short time before returning for her MA in Counseling Psychology at NYU. She is a busy working mother and, when she can, spends her free time in Montauk, Long Island. It is there, through its natural beauty, that she feels closest to her brothers.

Colaio currently lives on Long Island with her three children.

I highly recommend this book By JRO Jean Colaio writes from her heart about her firsthand experience on 9/11, and the aftermath of sorting out life after the loss of her two brothers. Her style is honest and direct as she recounts the many layers of pain that enveloped her and her family. Readers encounter a very personal take on the historic tragedy that shocked the world, along with very personal reflections that attempt to make peace with her new reality. I highly recommend this book. It contributes greatly to the understanding of what people close to the tragedy actually experienced.

Spiritual and inspirational as well. As a Former Hicksville resident, I felt a connection to the author and read the book in two hours cover to cover. Just could not put it down.

A Definite Page Turner By Wendy Return of the White Deer masterfully tells the story of young Pen who valiantly tries not to be anything like his farmer father. Instead he sneaks away to learn how to use a sword. This is just the beginning for Pen as he leaves his childhood behind and enters adulthood. Secrets about Pen, his father and their past are revealed at the turn of every page. Pen's bravery, compassion, and insight allow him to lead a rebellion against the evil King. What happens next I can not reveal....What a terrific book! I intended to savor each page of Robert Sells' new book, Return of the White Deer, but instead got hooked and devoured it. Sells is a mastermind at weaving the intricate story of Pen's coming of age, slowly revealing information about each of the characters and building explosive tension all the way through the book. Return of the White Deer is beautifully crafted, starting with the opening scene of the spotting of the mysterious white deer all the way through to the final battle at the end.I can't wait to read the next book by Robert Sells.

The characters, in the book, teach us of our inner strength and ability to move beyond the circumstances. The story emphasizes how age is not a deterrent to success, that communication comes in all ways, not just verbal conversation. The fortitude shone by men, women and children to achieve a righteous goal is remarkable.In today's world, we need to slip away to where the "White Deer" lives, to a place that affirms our inner abilities and helps us to remember that good can overcome evil, that treating each other with respect and tolerance yields amazing results and that love is always needed to keep us going.I dare say, no one who reads this book will be disappointed.

By Caressa This is an amazing read for all ages, whether you are young, rebellious (like Pen himself) and just beginning to cultivate your love of reading, or young at heart and yearning to escape into a world of literary excellence. "Return of the White Deer" lures the reader into a world of adventure, and leaves you salivating for more with every turn of the page. A book of fiction is only as strong as the characters within it; and it takes a great author to create timeless characters that the reader not only gets invested in, but can relate to and truly cheer for. Robert Sells has created a masterpiece and set the bar for his future literary endeavors. A refreshingly new take on the classic coming of age story!

Richards' work not only enhances my understanding of the music I've cherished for decades, but provides a wonderful step by step narrative of a crucial period in a great American art form. The reader gains insight into the personalities of the artists and the workings of the recording industry. A special benefit is the discovery of excellent performers whose names did not make the top tier but whose contributions to the art were essential.

So many things it boggles my already boggled mind. Our brains are amazing but some things slow it down from working right, like lack of exercise and lack of sleep. There is a brain-boosting diet and brain exercises work, playing musical instruments, knitting and tennis. In the second book on concentration, the author advises we focus on one thing at a time, work a crossword puzzle a day and tells us concentration is all about the power of focus which will also help our memory, give us more willpower and self confidence and psychic power and faster comprehension. He goes into the meals we eat and suggest we eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a commoner and dinner like a beggar. He's pro-caffeine and says we should chew gum and eat citrus and avocados. These books are pretty detailed and sometimes even a bit too much. Not a quick read but something you might want to hang out with for a while.

About the Author

Niket Sonpal, MD (New York, NY) was the 2013-2014 Chief Resident at Lenox Hill Hospital – Northshore LIJ Health System. He is also Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine Touro College of Medicine and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine St. Georges University. He teaches USMLE and COMLEX preparation across the country and is currently completing a GI fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Conrad Fischer, MD (New York, NY), is one of the most experienced educators in medicine today. He is Associate Professor of Medicine, Physiology and Pharmacology at Touro College of Medicine. His breadth of teaching includes medical students, USMLE prep, and Specialty Board exams. He has seven "Teacher of the Year" awards over the last ten years. In addition, Dr. Fischer was formerly the Associate Chief of Medicine for Educational and Academic Activities at SUNY Downstate School of Medicine. Dr. Fischer has been Chairman of Medicine for Kaplan Medical since 1999, and has held Residency Program Director positions at both Maimonides Medical Center and Flushing Hospital in New York City.

It was moving without sacrificing the reader's ability to get to know the people. I really enjoyed this story, it had great MC's and a really good cast of supporting characters. The setting of the story had some really brutal circumstances and challenges to it. To my way of thinking the man-killing grizzly was also a main character as well. It always managed to do severe damage and then kept getting away. LeRoy's ma was quite the person who got your attention and as much as LeRoy loved her, she made him kind of nervous at times. LeRoy. Wow, LeRoy, what can I say about him? I just couldn't help but like him and hope that he would have a HEA. He was tough, skilled but also had a tender heart that he hid from many. He faced prejudices of course, being half white, half Indian. Geneviève or Gennie as she is called, really had a hard life and you could really feel her hopelessness and loneliness. Whitman introduces her male protagonist, LeRoy Banks, who is half Cheyenne Indian and half white. A grizzly bear attacks at the Whitcomb ranch on his brother Eli’s wedding day. I hated to get to the end, just wanted it to keep going and going. The characters came alive to me and it was very difficult to have to leave them for even a little time. I was immersed in the storyline to the point it was in my thoughts when I was busy with other things. I loved this book and the author is, in my opinion, very talented and puts a great deal of research and thought into her books. The location of each scene is so well described that it's as if one was there. The clothing, language, and activities are correct for the period of the book. I especially appreciated the sensitivity shown in dealing with the rape and abuse of a young girl. This book was not only well written, but a "clean" book as well. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical romance.

About the Author Kory Pryor is believed to be a native resident of the Earth and spends most of his nights (and days) in Vail, Colorado, all the while looking up and at the seemingly unending beauty, majesty and expanses of the heavens above wondering to himself - Why...why am I here and not there? In addition to being an author and photographer, Kory is also a begrudgingly practicing attorney-at-law, having graduated from the Emory University School of Law, where he learned how to do many (but not all) things legal as well as spend ungodly amounts of borrowed money on law school tuition. During the winters you can find Kory on his snowboard carving about and through a flaky, white, wintery substance commonly known as snow, while during the summers you can find him traversing up, down and through the grand Rocky Mountains with his german-shepherd mix pup, Asha. As to the remainder of the seasons (those being Spring and Fall), and what Kory does during those times - well, that remains a mystery of monumental unimportance, hopefully never to be revealed to the masses that could care less.

This is the most practical guide I have found for introducing children to activities that develop the growth mindset By Bob Anthony Give me a one-handed economist! Harry S. Truman complained that economists say 'on the one hand... but on the other...' Like President Truman, I want accurate information and clear direction; this book delivers both in an engaging and concise style. It also delivers more than the title promises; the chapter heading from page 205 could have been used as the entire book's subtitle: 'Fostering Emotional Wellness in All Students'. This is the most practical guide I have found for introducing children to activities that develop the growth mindset (grit/resilience). For example, if I am not sure what I am looking for, its early chapters guide me. If I already know that I want to help a third grader improve a specific coping skill, like problem solving, the index directs me to an activity called 'Problems, Ideas, Plans - Let's Do the PIP'! In addition to what I expected in the activity description (materials needed, suggested script, and minutes to allow), I was happily surprised to learn much more, how a step in the activity relates to an emotional health skill, such as cognitive flexibility, and why it matters.
