Many times after working so hard to reach the top in one's career, the pressure to stay there is so overwhelming it can soon begin to take its toll. As a result, one can easily fall into the rut of working just a little while longer to in order to "fix it". Soon you realize a larger part of your life is being consumed with work, leaving little time for friends and family. It requires much discipline to be able to set the professional life aside long enough to enjoy one's personal life. The educators profiled in this book seem to have found a happy balance, with everything from pounding the drums to seeking quiet meditation. The author did a good job in selecting individuals who work at all levels of education, yet the simple principle of "taking time for yourself" can apply to any profession. Well done.

Great wisdom for educational leaders By Linda O'Neal The most common issue that I consistently heard educational leaders discuss was balance their professional and personal lives. Dr. Sinclair offers sage wisdom regarding balance in the introduction to this book and then follows it with case studies from all sectors of the profession. Bravo!!! He has an excellent section on the benefits of a personal fitness program as well. Given the diversity of case studies, there is something for everyone no matter what level or type of leadership position you hold. What an inspiration!
