2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A must read book! By Richard Corbin It was life just as we lived it on Ward 57. Helping all of the wounded soldiers and their families deal with the horrific injuries. Sylvia was lucky enough to get to go out on forays with the guys to go skiing and the like and I am sure that was a terrific time for her. I wouldn't trade this time in my life for anything but it has taken its toll on me. Read the book, it will make you laugh, it will make you cry and it will give you some understanding of just what the nurses on the home front went through.

Enjoyable book - about nursing By DW Howell I would recommend "I Want Chocolate Cake for Dinner!" to anyone that enjoys reading about nursing and real life experiences. Sylvia is a personal friend of mine and my husband is one who encouraged her to write a book as she was always writing (recording vital info about his condition, etc.) when she came to visit him. The stories she tells are inspiring, and would inspire young people to think about nursing as a career. Sylvia is a person to be admired because of her passion for those who are in need of medical care, and this shows in the book.

Her life as a nurse is an inspiration to anyone who is considering a career in nursing. Also, she shows that a person can follow their dreams even with family obligations. This is a book to pass on to our children, grandchildren and any young person who may be considering nursing as a career. Enjoy!
