I enjoyed hearing about how the author set up routines/order in her home to prepare her children for adulthood. As a former homeschooling mom, I also liked reading the parts about homeschooling. Christian-based, filled with practical wisdom, and inspiring because the author is a runner. I also love the ebook cover with the blue butterfly!

If you are like me and think you don't have anything to learn when it comes to improving your communication skills ... think again! I have always been interested in language skills so this was a stimulating read for me. The book on charisma has a lot of insight and is filled with clever suggestions for improving one's game when it comes to meeting new people and interacting with people in general. If you are into self-improvement, especially with regards to the art of communication, do yourself a favor and check out these two handy books. Well worth your time and money.

This book will somehow teach us to use communication effectively and efficiently. It was overwhelming to know about this that I myself was amazed. About the Author

Lynne Schrum is Dean of the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education at Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Previously, she was the Dean of the College of Education and Human Services at West Virginia University. Prior to that, she was a professor and coordinator of elementary education in the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University. Her research and teaching focus on preparing teachers for the 21st century, appropriate uses of information technology, and leadership in a digital world. She has written eleven books and numerous articles on these subjects; the most recent is How 2, Web 2: How to for Educators. Schrum served on AERA’s Council, was editor of the Journal of Research on Technology in Education (JRTE) (2002-2012), and is a past-president of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

Barbara Levin has been a Professor in the Department of Teacher Education and Higher Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) since 1993. She was an elementary school teacher for 17 years before earning her Ph.D. at the University of California-Berkeley. Dr. Levin served as the Director of the Teachers Academy at UNCG, assistant department chair, and director of graduate studies. She was awarded the first Mentoring-Advising-Supervising (MAS) Award in the School of Education at UNCG. Dr. Levin also served as an Associate Editor for Teacher Education Quarterly for 8 years, and was co-PI on a 5-year, $1.4 million National Professional Development grant from the Dept. of Education called TESOL for ALL. Her research interests include: understanding how teachers’ pedagogical beliefs develop across their careers; case-based teaching; problem-based learning (PBL); universal design for learning (UDL); and leading, teaching, and learning with technology. Dr. Levin has published eight books and over 40 articles in well-respected research journals.

I bought mine two days ago. For $24, anyone interested at all in commercial real estate investment at any level will find it a terrific reference tool. There’s lots of basic investment info. But if you’ve ever thought about “group” or “syndicated” investments, start with Chapter 2, “Do you want to be in the syndication business?” Plain English. Pros and cons. You’ll know pretty quickly whether you want to ever be a group sponsor. And if you do, or if you at least want to consider investing in a syndicate, you’ll quickly learn about how this works. He covers the newest regulations and shows you step-by-step how to navigate them. I still haven’t become a group investor yet, but I’ve now done a lot of due diligence and whenever people talk about experts in this area, Gene Trowbridge is the name is at the top of everyone’s list. I’ve heard him speak and he’s absolutely amazing. Seriously, 24 bucks -- download the book!

The Best Book On Real Estate Syndication By charles e wright Anyone looking to go into, or who already are doing group sponsorship (Syndication) to raise money for real estate investment, business opportunity, or other ventures would be well advised to read this book. The penalties for making mistakes in this business can be sever. The book explains very clearly the new SEC regulations & rules governing the sale of securities, exemptions, and the legal way to raise funds from investors and much more. I have been looking for this kind information for a long time without having to break the bank to learn from (in my opinion) over charged seminars. I highly recommend it for inexperienced as well as experienced group sponsors. I bought the second addition book about a year ago, and this third addition I bought the kindle version. Love it! I am more than happy with what I've learned and feel confident moving forward in my business.

By Amazon Customer This book did a wonderful job preparing my daughter to take the ASVAB to join the US Coast Guard. It helped her in areas where she had limited knowledge such as mechanics and electrical engineering. She scored the highest score on her testing date and was able to join the coast guard without any problems.

It asks you test questions which are very often not even covered in the pre-study sections of the chapters. In addition, it leaves out key formulas in the study sections, and, particularly in math and physics-related questions, they often times leave out the key steps in order to properly solve the problems (in the answer explanation sections following the practice questions). Basically, I feel like I have been ripped off of money AND time by getting this book.

Took the practice test and scored an 52 before getting this book and my Air Force recruiter recommended I study for the real ASVAB to shoot for a 62 or more for the best jobs. I studied this book for about 3 weeks and sure enough, I scored a 64! This book helped a lot I highly recommend it.

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. really great book By Jamie Richardson I'm a bit surprised I'm the first person to review this book. I randomly came across it when I was searching for the latest in robotics. For me, it's a pretty good fit. I have the basics down with electronics and am very solid in software. Each chapter is a completely different project, probably written by a different person. So some chapters are more detailed than others. Fortunately the pictures on the Kindle book fill in any ambiguities.I've come to realize that robotics is expensive. So instead of doing each project in the book, I picked a few that interested me and didn't cost too much in components. I completed the piDuino and Deltabot project. There were a few minor issues here and there (e.g. the example code crashes since some updated library has a bug), but I worked around it. The deltabot is really neat. I've extended it with the RasPi to have a web sockets interface, which can have a smart phone input display.

Exceeded Expectations By Koralamode While not entirely comprehensive, this book will definitely get you going and get the wheels turning on all of the things that you can do. Further, it seems to go a bit beyond the scope of the typical "robotics" genre, while still keeping things relatively light.

My grandchildren love this Autism Sing-Along CD they know all the words and we use it as a learning tool whenever we can. If you want a peek, get it from the library or borrow from a parent who has already gone through the middle school process in a previous year. You can also get most of the info on the insideschools.org, and even more updated info from the DOE statistics, greatschools.com and [...]. Buying this book is a waste of money.

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. She Knows How to Evaluate Schools By John Matlock You simply don't have time to go around to all the schools your kid might be planning to attend. And if you did, it isn't ckear that you'd know just what questions to ask. Clara Hemphill does know. As the director of Insideschools.org she has spent years analyzing the public school system in NYC. She looks at the schools academically (of course) but also in other aspects such as friendliness, willingness of the teaching staff to work with the kids individually, social development and many more.Note the title, this book discusses the BEST schools. And New York's best are very good indeed. These are not the warehouses where the kids are just putting in time. These are the places you would want your kid to go.

Good Resource, But Not Enough By Itself By Paige Turner This is a good resource to add information to help you navigate the labyrinth of the NYC public school Middle School process. It seems as if the career bureaucrats at the DOE purposely make the process as confusing and annoying as possible. As far as getting through that system, this book offers little of value. Instead, it offers good details on the various schools which will complement what you find online. Some of the detail in this book is what I would call "scuttlebutt" but it is valuable information nonetheless.The organization of the book is fairly logical- by borough and by school. Some of the discussion on Middle Schools in general is quite valuable. The price is high, but to be expected for a book of this type with a very narrow readership. The bulk of school research is best done on the web, but this book fills in a lot of holes in that research. Well worth the price.

Research Based, Results Oriented By Mathguy1955 If, as a teacher, you are looking for a way to help your kids increase their achievement in your subject area, I recommend this book. The premise, like so many successful ideas, is elegant and obvious: if kids are told what they are to learn, as well as why it is necessary or important for them to learn it, and you give them a way to both measure and monitor their progress toward their learning goals, they are almost certain to be more successful than if you don't!This book gives the background, as well as the process, for doing all of the above. Useful insights abound (frequency of assessment being one).Think of it this way: most of us go to a store (school, in this analogy) aiming to satisfy a lack; many of us take lists to keep from impulse buys and to make sure we don't miss something. If kids are shown that lack, provided with instruction, given a list to compare to their acquistions, as well as a way to rate the quality of their acquisitions, they are much more likely to end up with a positive outcome. Designing and Teaching Learning Goals and Objectives: Classroom Strategies That Work lays out how to do that.

We received training ... but this book is an excellent resource for utilizing the Marzano scales system. The Art and Science of Teaching, provides a simple explanation, but this book goes into detail about how to write various types of goals and corresponding scales, provides a taxonomy for developing the scales, and helps you understand how to translate scale scores to grades. If you get this one, get the Formative Assessment & Standards-based Grading book too -- they go hand in hand.

By hazey My school district has begun to use Marzano for teacher evals and setting up learning goals and objectives that follow the evaluation format is paramount. This book is a must have for any educator who is using Marzano, as are all his books. Marzano gives clear and concise instructions and ideas for writing the student goals.

As they search for the true meaning of life, will they risk everything to save each other? Fox This wonderful historical novel is both a very exciting book of fiction, as well as treasure trove of historical information! It will appeal to readers of all ages, from grade school children, to adults, all of whom will be treated to a delightful and moving story of its two main characters, namely Ohanzee, a 16-year-old son of a Sioux chief, and Sara, a 15-year-old daughter of a US Cavalry officer. The two characters end up alone, surviving as they traverse across the prairie in1876 in the region of the Battle of the Little Big Horn - but I won't ruin the plot for you and reveal its suspenseful ending! Suffice it for me to tell you that the author wildly succeeded in weaving an adventurous tale, complete with the inclusion of famous people of that era such as General George Armstrong Custer and Chief Sitting Bull. The author did a terrific job in detailing the contrasts in the cultures and mindsets of the White Man and the Native American. It is one of those rare books that once you start reading it, you cannot put down until you have read the whole story in one sitting!

The historical accuracy and detail are quite impressive. I appreciated how the two main characters debated cultural values as their paths crossed with famous faces such as William Mayo, Calamity Jane, Grant Marsh, George Custer, Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull. As a history buff, I recommend this to anyone who is interested in a balanced perspective of national expansion and the Indian Wars.

Whiting Red White or Blue, set in1875 Dakota Territory, weaves two journeys and cultures together, that of a Lakota chief's son and that of an Army officer's daughter. Similar to the cultural issues of today, the main characters struggle to reconcile their conflicting customs, faiths and values. Written as an educational historical fiction novel for young adults, this is also a great read for adults interested in the historical conflict between Native American and European-American cultures.

The heroine is no whimpering miss and the hero is so straight-laced, it's a wonder passionate Callie Maxwell can get through to him. But Callie is determined to avenge the death of her parents and the Angel of Justice will insure that happens.Unfortunately for Austin Kincaid, Callie's passion and secretiveness keep getting in the way of his investigation, as does his attraction to the lovely ranch owner. But it is not simply his present quandary that keeps Austin from letting himself fall for Callie. The question is, can two such different personalities find a happily ever after.Marie Patrick writes a great novel with strong characters that are anything but perfect. Yet, it is their imperfections that has them making a place for themselves in the heart of the reader. This author does wonderful descriptions, something I first discovered in her recent releases. If you are looking for a western with a feminine yet strong heroine and a truly masculine, white-hat hero, you are going to love Angel in the Moonlight.
