Insatiable, by J.D. Hawkins Review "Insatiable is really f***ing good! The writing is solid, the humor is smart, and the sex is a off the charts hot! There are many things about Insatiable that I loved ... Jax being my number one. He's arrogant and cocky, but he has every reason to be. He's good looking, is mega successful, and has moves that would make my grandma swoon." Jen from the Literary Gossip"And sometimes, you are blessed with something that makes you go YES!! This. This right here is simply perfection. You get this feeling while reading it that you can't describe. Because you know, that this author has something special. A rare gift. And that gift is writing." Candi Kane from Dirty Laundry Review"JD Hawkins brought his A game to this debut. Without a doubt the best debut novel I've read this year." goodreads.com"This book... WOW. It exudes character and warmth. EVERYTHING is executed to perfection... The dialogue, the prose, the humour, the motivation the cliffhanger. The writing has so much texture and meaning. It made me smile and laugh. It made my heart beat fast and it's HOT!!" Jxxx Pinklady
From the Author I grew up in Southern California and now live with my wife in Venice, CA. In between I've lived in NYC, India and Thailand. I love to travel and enjoy surfing, training in MMA and riding motorcycles. I've always enjoyed making up stories, especially ones inspired by real life.

By 2Gr8KidsMom I was prepared to give this book a full 3 stars and had hoped the ending would push it closer to 4...and then I got to the "ending" and I'm so irritated that it was all I could do not to give it 1 star. Why? Let me say this as clearly as I can: I. DESPISE. CLIFFHANGER. ENDINGS. I don't know why authors do this! I feel cheated and exploited every single time I read a book, get to the "ending" and find out that I have to read another book because this one leaves off in what should be the middle of the book.Just to be sure I wasn't "cheating" the author on a better rating, I went back to the book description to see if I'd missed that it was a "cheater book." Nope. No warning.Now...if you don't mind a book that leaves off at the middle, this is what I'll tell you: The book was fairly interesting for the most part. You had an "it" guy who thinks he's all that, and a beautiful woman who lacks confidence. They hook up so that he can teach her how to have great sex for her next partner because OF COURSE this guy is a one-night-stand-player kinda guy and not boyfriend material. It wasn't a bad read. I did have trouble relating to the characters and didn't really connect with them, but I'm sure some people would. But I kept turning the pages because I was interested enough. I just need more "relationship" attempt to go along with my romance, and this one really doesn't have it.So, 2 stars for this book. Would've given it 3 if it didn't end on a cliffhanger, and it might've gotten as high as 4 if it was a complete story.

Because, seriously, Insatiable is really freaking good! The writing is solid, the humor is smart, and the sex is a off the charts hot! There are many things about Insatiable that I loved ... Jax being my number one. He's arrogant and cocky, but he has every reason to be. He's good looking, is mega successful, and has moves that would make my grandma swoon. I kid. The guy could knock your panties off with just a hot breath on your shoulder and you'd have no idea WTF just hit you or where the hell your undies disappeared to. Best of all, he's a decent guy. He's not a game player, you know what you're getting. He's respectful, even if he does screw a lot. He's not going to make you a promise and leave you hanging. He's a ladies man, with no intention of settling down, but he's not a douche. When Jax meets Lizzie in a bar, he's smitten. He wants to screw her, badly. But she's sassy and gives him the brush off. When he runs into her again by chance... all bets are off.Lizzie is sweet. She has no idea that she's a sex kitten waiting to be unleashed. I loved that she took her red hot encounter with Jax and decided to remake herself. She knew what she felt with him was something she wanted to feel with any man. It's what's she been missing with her douchey ex boyfriend, Brody the wet blanket. While she did show some shyness and self-doubt, they didn't last long once Jax got a hold of her.I appreciated that Lizzie grew sexually, and that Jax grew emotionally throughout this first part of Insatiable. I loved that neither of them fought their connection, they just went with it. I loved the witty banter between the two of them and how comfortable they felt with each other. Jax showed his true colors when he didn't hesitate to come to her rescue when he saw she needed it. Best of all.. this arrangement between Jax and Lizzie just felt right. Their dialogue felt natural, the way their relationship progressed felt like I was watching a real couple without even knowing it. I didn't question the why, I was too sucked into the story and their connection.I absolutely adored the friendship Jax has with his best friend, Luce. She's a firecracker and I loved that she didn't let Jax get away with anything. She tells him just how it is, and he respects her enough to allow it. She keeps him grounded... and with an ego as big as Jax's, he needs that.I can't begin to tell you how much I am DYING to read Insatiable 2. Because that ending... Yeah. I didn't see it coming, which shocks me. I need more, JD Hawkins!

Oh, that takes a level of skill that goes beyond mastery."Let me tell you something. I can tell how a woman f***s by the way she moves; you can tell how a man handles business between the sheets by the way he walks."…and I can tell when my early warning detection system is doing its job perfectly when sentences like that appear a couple of lines in.Unfortunately I threw the towel in at 20% and for several reasons. Aside of my feelings towards the characters (which I'll return to), Insatiable was in desperate need of an editor - the grammar and punctuation errors, the telling without showing and the POV slips made it a frustrating read, but grammar wasn't the only problem. It was the choice of words."I pull back, her clit following me like a lost dog.""I roll my knuckles in and around her holes with the expertise of a piano player."…"she rolls it (his juices btw) around her mouth before swallowing it like it’s a vintage wine getting her drunk."This isn’t erotic. Far from it. What I read was clichéd, crass and left someone with a fairly strong constitution feeling queasy. Yet it was strangely clinical. All the action happened just like that. The licking lips, the awful chat-up lines and a girl dragging him into a corner in a nightclub; what I managed to read had no sense of pacing and everything just happened so abruptly and dispassionately that there was no emotional investment to be had. It centres wholly around who Jax does or doesn't want to bang and whether or not he succeeds."I can sense the dozens of women deciding at first glance that I’m the one they want to f*** tonight."He had no redeeming qualities. Insecure and manipulative, cocky and chauvinistic, I couldn't abide him and felt like I was reading and being expected to enjoy the thoughts of, quite bluntly, a misogynistic narcissist. As for the heroine, Lizzie, she really was nothing more than an object. There for his benefit. As were all the women, including the one redeeming character, Luce who had the potential to be a likeable character as she was the one person to pull him up on his incessant bitching. But the author ruined that by pulling out the old pathetic misconception that man cannot simply be just friends with woman. On the positive side, the reader does get sex in the opening chapter (clunkily and unsexily, but it's there) and the book is fairly short, which is a definite plus, if you can even make it to the end. Will I be reading the subsequent books by this author? I think my answer may be a little obvious, but no I won't. Not even if they are free. And, as always these are simply my own personal and honest thoughts.
